My Story
My background with working dogs dates back to the days next to my dad in the field , 20 years later and I'm running my own kennels , building on a life long passion that I'm lucky enough to call work !
Where It All Began
Growing up surrounded by working dogs and rural life, Georgia developed a deep connection to the training, purpose and partnership that sits at the heart of the gundog world. This passion is the foundation of Keepers Gundogs, an environment where owners and their dogs can learn with confidence.
From Veterinary to Field
Before establishing Keepers Gundogs, I spent many years working as a Veterinary Nurse, caring for and handling dogs of all breeds, temperaments and backgrounds.
Working in veterinary practice taught me far more than clinical skills. It taught me the importance of reading dogs, understanding body language and recognising how fear, stress and anxiety can influence behaviour. Every dog communicates, and learning to recognise those subtle signs is something I continue to use in my training every day.
Although I do not hold a formal behaviour qualification, I have spent years handling dogs professionally within veterinary practice and continue to develop my understanding through practical experience. My strength lies in reading the dog in front of me, understanding what they are communicating and helping owners build confidence, trust and clarity within their relationship.
That experience continues to influence my training today. Every dog deserves to feel safe, understood and capable of succeeding.
The Keepers Approach
Georgia’s training style is calm, thoughtful and tailored. No two dogs are the same, and every session—whether 1-2-1, group or residential—is designed with the individual dog and handler in mind. Her focus is on building a steady, well-mannered and willing companion through clear communication, practical exercises and consistent groundwork that will take the handler and the dog through their own journey .
The appeal was never just about shoot days, training days or competitions. What has always inspired me is watching a dog develop from a young puppy into a confident, reliable working companion. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a dog fulfil the role it was bred for while remaining happy, engaged and enthusiastic in its work.
Training became a natural progression from my time in veterinary practice and working my own dogs throughout the shooting season. The more time I spent in the field, the more respect I gained for good breeding, patience, consistency and proper foundations.
At Keepers Gundogs, my focus is on building a relationship between dog and handler through fair, enjoyable and effective training. I believe every dog should feel confident, safe and fulfilled in its work, and every owner should enjoy the journey of training alongside them.
Learning Through the Land
Training takes place across a small working shooting estate based in South West Scotland , offering a wide range of cover and real-life training opportunities . Dogs in Georgia’s care work through grasses, woodland and water, and are gradually exposed to essential elements such as cold game, environmental distractions, livestock, and tools like blank firers and dummies. This variety creates confident dogs that understand their job and enjoy the process .
